Otira Rogue Jazz/Soul/Hip Hop/Psychedelic + Brass Laughter
It’s no doubt that the perfect evening, starts with good music, moves into laughter and finishes with a boogie. You just wouldn’t expect it to take place on a Tuesday.
Brass Laughter is the exciting new residence at Open Studio that brings together Jazz, Stand-up Comedy and Neo-soul. Taking place on the second Tuesday of every month, the event offers audiences a chance to see Melbourne’s unsuspecting newcomers in both music and comedy.
Headlining the event will be heavy-hitters Otira Rouge. Their blend of Funk, Jazz, Soul, hip-hop and Psychadelica, flouts conventional description: “Cooking up a weird feast of fresh beats to move ya feets. Smooth like Jesus but sensitive as a beast. Knee deep in what the moment the moment keeps. A fleet sailing after sleep”.
Between musical acts, feature comedian Eli Landes will invite listeners on an investigation into human vulnerability. Although, he tries to keep a low profile, Eli has been noted as a state finalist at RAW comedy, radio host on Southern FM and creator and writer for upcoming web-series Neighbourhood Watch. Accompanying Eli, will be two new comedians each month.
The night begins at 7:30 with live jazz. Each month will offer a different act to open the evening, sourcing from Melbourne’s pool of exciting new talent. Sometimes it will be edgy, sometimes it will be classical, sometimes it will be funky, either way it’s a good way to start a night.
