5-7 The Gravy Tram & ALFRED AND MATT DANIEL

August 5 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Open Studio Aug 5 sqaure copy

THE GRAVY TRAM
The Gravy Tram – With influences ranging from Elliot Smith, Paul Kelly and The Shins, have built a steady foundation of urban folk. This Melbourne based trio of talented players have created a mesh of Brit-Pop and Surf Guitar with a healthy dose of the folk songwriting tradition. Making the song the focus, The Gravy Tram stay true to their common goal of the story, underpinned with melodic tones and laid back grooves.

ALFRED AND MATT DANIEL

Alfred Daniel (The Bell Parade) and Matt Daniel (Unpainted Prospects) will perform a combined set with a brotherly lovefest featuring songs from each of their projects.

The Bell Parade released their debut album Let’s Make ‘em Like That Anymore in 2011, earning positive reviews from national street press and airplay on Rage, RRR, and ABC local radio. Blending alt-country with indie balladry and subtle psychedelia, the resulting sound has been described as aniseed bubblegum pop. Equally influenced by Evan Dando and Bob Dylan, if there was a fire in his house, Alfred would be sure to rescue his capo.

The music of Unpainted Prospects open doors to places that are sometimes raw, sometimes strange, sometimes clear and sometimes achingly unsettled. Think of the musical world visited by explorer-songwriters such as Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and the Finn Brothers. Unpainted Prospects’ debut single, the self-directed protest song  Boxing Day’s Ails  was released in December 2016. Their winter 2017 EP  Night & Day  was produced by Richard Andrew (Underground Lovers) is out soon.
