“A rare and brilliant treat for the ears.” (Charles Jenkins)
“Beautiful, idiosyncratic songwriting.” (Ben Salter)
Well-travelled Melbourne singer/songwriter Michael Plater has spent the last few years playing acclaimed shows in such areas as Berlin, London, Budapest, Amsterdam, France, and Italy. Taking in various indie, art-rock, chamber-folk, alt-country, and “noir” influences, his albums “Exit Keys” (2012) and Mythologies (2016) have received world-wide critical acclaim. A new album will be released later this year.
“Beautiful and timeless…music that breaks your heart,” (Peek-a-Boo Magazine, Belgium)
“Michael Plater should be out there touring the world and releasing a revelatory new disc every year…we’re lucky to have him,” (I-94-Bar)
“The names that come to mind are Nick Cave, Nikki Sudden (in his ‘solo works’), Lou Reed… Intimate folk-blues ballads, with an underground taste…a songwriter with talent…Heartfelt music from a sensitive soul, surely. Very good work.” (Sudden Art Music Magazine, Italy)
“Enigmatic Melbourne troubadour, Michael Plater…explores the dark corners of his inner world, wringing every last drop of fascination out of his gnarled guitar,” (Americana Australia)
Rick Hart’s Bare Bones:
Rick Hart’s Bare Bones is the acoustic incarnation of award winning singer-songwriter Rick Hart’s songs and sound. Featuring members of his (full) band The Sweet Addictions, they deliver rootsy, stripped back interpretations of Hart’s countrified soul offerings, filled with energy and melodic treats a plenty. Winner of the 2014 Australian Songwriters Association “Songwriter of the Year” award, Rick Hart’s songs deliver heartbreaking imagery layered on melodic landscapes, transcending the genres of country, soul, blues, rock’n’roll and folk to a deliver a sound all his own. Fresh off supporting the likes of Things of Stone and Wood and Bill Chambers, and with his debut album due later in 2017, the future promises big things.
245T are post truth country rockers with a healthy dose of soul, roll and vinegar. Led by Marsden Williams (The Stirlings, Cross Eyed Cat), 245T meander through influences as vast as you’d expect from a second hand record store owner.
