2-4 Unpainted Prospects and Greg Steps – Folk/ Country
October 1 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Unpainted Prospects are intimate alt-folk storytellers, weaving keenly observed tales from the personal to the political. Loosely formed in 2015, the act is the latest vehicle for singer/songwriter Matthew Daniel and draws on the classically-, pub- and bedroom-trained talents of other Melbournites Gawain Davey (clarinet), Warren Howden (flute), Andy Pap (double bass) and Alfred Daniel (harmonica and sibling harmonies).
Greg Steps is a folk/ country singer-songwriter whose songs evoke the vast desolate landscape of Australia’s barren interior. While following in the tradition of archetypal singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, Steps also draws influence from various Australian bands of the 1980’s, such as The Go-Betweens, The Triffids and Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls. With his distinctive voice, unique songs and unconventional between-song banter, he has proven himself to be a true original.”
